Some compound words (like bus rapid transit, dog whistle, or identity theft) don’t appear on the drop-down list when you type them in the search bar. For best results with compound words, place a quotation mark before the compound word in the search window.

An orange crystalline compound, C₁₅H₁₀O₅, that is obtained from rhubarb and other plants and has cathartic, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties.

[New Latin (Rheum) ēmōdī, a species of rhubarb : genitive of ēmōdus (from Greek Ēmōdos, the Himalayas) + -IN.]
